My kid wanted the space
"My kid wanted the space underneath to hang out but wasn't comfortable with the high loft. The low loft bed was the perfect solution and this bedframe had the highest advertised clearance underneath (for a low loft style). The quality of the bed is. . . probably worth what I paid for it. It's not an heirloom piece and is made from cheap pine. I'm planning on reinforcing it by cutting a thin sheet of plywood to fit inside the frame so it doesn't move as much. Someone on Amazon had a tip to add more slats under the mattress and I may do that too. I noticed many loose bolts after 3 nights of use by a 70lb kid, but after I tightened them again, they've stayed tight. I don't know how anyone would assemble this by themselves, like when you have to stand up the two sides to put the middle rails in. The white color is in between a solid white and a white-wash. I can still smell it off-gassing and it's been assembled over a week. I bought a 5" twin mattress off Amazon and added a foam and a down topper bc it was quite firm and there's still a safe amount of bar space. Your fitted sheet will show through the bars so get something cute. We hung some semi-sheer fabric and glowy string lights underneath and it's a tween dream hangout spot. I'm glad I bought it because my kid loves it and I didn't pay big bucks for something she may use for a year or two then grow out of."
